This is one of my first avatar tutorials ever made, so do forgive me if its a bit unclear. Anyways, you'll learn the steps on how I made my Sasuke Avatar. If you have any questions about anything on any tutorial, you can give us an email, and we'll try to clear up some smoke. Hope you enjoy this tutorial! =3

Alright, another day another tutorial for avatars. Okay, for this tutorial, we're going to color B&W manga scans, afterwards we're going to add a lovely texture on it. Yes, I believe this tutorial and my other avy tutorial here can work for other programs to, like PSP.

The Picture we're going to use here, is of Sasuke from Naruto!
So its from this to this.

1. First step, we're going to grab ourself a nice B&W manga scan. You can choose any, but for this tutorial, I'm using this Sasuke one from Naruto. ^^ Re-size it, and crop it.

2. Then go to your paint bucket tool. Make sure that you have the settings right. Opacity: Your choice, but for the skin, I went with 50%. You can darken of ligten it later on. Tolerance: 32 depends on your picture. But for mine, I chose 32. When you're coloring do play around with the Tolerance. The Tolerance thing, is to get the right type of layered look. Since I took Tolerance 32, I can fill in more areas, even though the pictures or the lines have a different color. The less define the lines, the less Tolerance you use, if not, the paint will go out of the lines, and we don't want that. ^^

3. Now make some new layers and rename them (of course you don't need to, but this will make sure you dont color in the wrong layer). I made 4 layers and named them skin, eyes, band, others.

4. I'm going to start at the skin so I'll use the pen tool for this. Of course, you can use other methods in selecting the areas in the pictures. But I use the pen tool a lot so I'll stick with that. After making the selecton, go to your paint bucket and fill it in. I used this color #EFE2C2 and then set the 'Skin' layer to 'multipy'. Nice rite? Then continue the rest of with the same methods, until you colored the whole thing.

**Note: Since I wanted Sasuke's eyes to be the main focus, I change the opacity to 100%.

The colors I used:

Skin: #EFE2C2 Opacity: 50%
Eyes: #F10B08 Opacity: 100%
Top Scroll: #C9720D Opacity: 100%
Bottom Scroll: #E44405 Opacity: 100%
Second Part of the scroll: #FFC600 Opacity: 50%
Band: #B3B29D Opacity: 50%

***This step is Optional! You don't need to do this, If you dont want!******

5. Now is the hard part of this. If you want your avy to have more depth in it, you gotta give it some shadows. This part is always hard for me. I usually don't put enough or I put too much. So grab your 'Burn' tool and find a nice small soft brush. and make sure that the settings for the 'Burn' tool is on 'Midtones'; 50 exposure. Then After using the burn tool on 'Midtones', Use 'Shadows' setting. Same thing as the Midtone setting. Then last is using the 'highlight' setting. But, for this, go to a lower exposure, 10 would be fine. Then again, you don't need to add the highlight settings, I just wanted to, to give a little bit more life into Sasuke's Skin.
